Newtown – a palette
Newtown is an endlessly inspiring place, full of colours and light.
It felt like a natural starting point for a palette, a way to capture and share the essence of this unique landscape.
As I’ve returned to it in adulthood, I’ve found myself rediscovering it, the light, the tidal saltmarsh and the deep history of the landscape.
The idea to create a palette inspired by this ancient place came early in my paint-making journey. But it’s taken over a year of experimentation, reflection, and refinement to arrive at a set of colours that truly feel right a palette that honours Newtown.
When deciding on paint colours, I wanted to create a palette that holds variety and also reflects various species and elements of the place. This Palette is made up of 6 watercolours.
Enjoy working with a soft natural palette that reflects this landscape, some paints granulate.
6 colours include:
Eylmus,
Sea Aster,
Marshland,
Sea Oak,
Salt Meadow,
Estuary.
